Direct Posterior
Restoration

Modern composite resins present satisfactory adhesion, esthetics and physic-mechanical properties which enable them to be used in posterior teeth. Especially in small to moderate cavities directly placed composite resin is considered to be the material of choice.

Indirect Resin
Restoration

Physical and mechanical properties of the modern composite resins have improved but still the polymerization shrinkage limits the longevity of direct restorations mainly in extensive posterior restorations. Indirect technique allows a better proximal contour, better occlusal morphology and marginal adaptation where polymerization shrinkage is better controlled.
